Lieberman Versus Hollywood - Washington Post

Quote:

"The issue has also helped reinforce Lieberman's reputation as the most conservative of the nine Democratic candidates (comedian Jon Stewart recently suggested that Lieberman is 'the candidate for people who want to vote for Bush but don't think [Bush] is Jewish enough'). Indeed, Lieberman's crusade has brought him into alliance with many conservatives, including Republican Sens. Sam Brownback (Kan.), John McCain (Ariz.) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (Tex.), 'virtues' czar William J. Bennett and media critic L. Brent Bozell III."

I would've been more inclined to agree with John Stewart before Gore picked Liberman as his VP candidate. Now Liberman is the candidate for people who want to vote for Marx but don't think he was Jewish enough.

Maybe that's a bit of an overstatement.

I also bring to the reader's attention how Bennett is the "virtues" czar, not the "virtues czar." It connotes that Bennett's moral beliefs are suspect, not that "virtues czar" is a cute name he's sometimes dubbed. Not fair, unless they're referring to this.
